In a little over 2 weeks, September 19, I will be walking to defeat ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). I have set a personal goal to raise $200, and I'm over halfway there. If you are able to, please consider donating to help raise money for research and to find a cure for this disease.

I'm walking because I am able to. Copied from the ALS website, here is a brief description of what ALS is:

ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that usually attacks both upper and lower motor neurons and causes degeneration throughout the brain and spinal cord. A common first symptom is a painless weakness in a hand, foot, arm or leg, which occurs in more than half of all cases. Other early symptoms include speech, swallowing, or walking difficulty.

Please help me reach my goal, but more importantly, raise money to help those affected by ALS.

Thank you!

Carrie

Running = Pain

Ran a mile on Tuesday. Ran 2 1/2 miles yesterday. Running a mile this evening. (when I say running, what I mean is that I run until I can't breathe, walk until I can breathe, run until I can't breathe, etc). I'm working on my breathing and my endurance. Soon enough I will be able to say that I ran for a mile, and I'll mean that I actually ran for a mile. I took Chloe with me yesterday, for 1 mile. She's a good pace setter, cuz she runs as fast as she can, but her legs aren't very long, so it's a good pace for me. And she wants to slow down always at just the right time.

Possibly having a yard sale this weekend. We will be moving soon (Yes, again, and No, not back to Maryland) and we need to get rid of crap. Moving is always good for that.

Girls are good. Rob's good. Work is work, but good (have a couple of big-ish projects to keep me occupied for the moment).

Hope all is well up that way.

Love and Hugs

If I knew that I'd remember this the next time I was drinking, I wouldn't post this here. I Stumbled across this and had to post it. It was attributed to anonymous, so I can't give credit where it's due...

To alcohol, the nights that you'll never remember, with the friends you'll never forget.

Yesterday was an awesome day. Rob and I laughed at the state shutting down before a single snowflake fell. Chloe's school was closed, so she got to go to work with us. Rob and her only ended up staying for about 2 hours, because she gets antsy at work, and he didn't feel like being here anymore. After I took them home, I did some work (yeah, whatever). Then I watched the Inauguration online. The streaming wasn't too bad, but did get annoying after a while. And it finally crapped out right as Obama was starting his speech, but I was able to get back on (this time the streaming SUCKED). I found the text after the speech was over. I have high hopes for the country right now, and maybe it's just because Bush is gone, but whatever it is, I'm okay with it.
Attempted to do some work again, but then it started snowing, and it's such a rare event here, that no work got done. Then the managers meeting that was schedule for all afternoon got cut extremely short (originally scheduled for 2:30-5, ended at 3:10) and we got to go home.
I took the girls outside to play in the snow twice (NOTE- they played in the snow while I stood there shivering). This will be the first snowfall that Chloe remembers, so it was pretty cool.
Then we just chilled out. We ended up with about 2 inches of snow. Work was delayed this morning, so we got to sleep in.

So yeah, yesterday was a very nice day. Just thought I'd share.

Love and Hugs

Having grown up in Maryland, and knowing how Maryland handles snow, Rob and I are laughing at the news right now. There is a Winter Storm Warning in effect for our area. It's supposed to start around 4am. Meaning nothing has even fallen from the sky yet. But some schools are already closed. Some government offices are delayed 2 hours tomorrow. Grocery stores are being raided by people trying to stock up.
And they're only calling for 1-3 inches.

We find this amusing.

Celeste made the Honor Roll again. 4 A's and 2 B's.
Remember at the end of last year when her tests came back, and they recognized her as being advanced in Math, and therefore put her in advanced math? Well, we just got an update, and they've now recognized that she needs to be in advanced Reading as well.
I'm so proud of her! I just hope she doesn't get bored in school and get caught up in the wrong crowds. I'd love to see her go to college.

I was going to write about what I think determines the sex of a child (besides the scientific reasons), but I think I might offend, so I won't post it.

Sometimes, while I'm mowing the lawn, I imagine that the ants are humans and the lawnmower running over the ant hills is like a tornado. There's a lot of destruction, and some of them don't make it, but when you go back to check on them, they're assessing the damage and starting to rebuild.

And I haven't even been drinking tonight...

And this is just one of the FAAAR outer bands.
And we have a generator at work, so we're not really without power, but the blink outage messed up my scanning.

I was sleeping, so I can't verify this.
Apparently, last night Rob got cold, and since I am a blanket theif, I had all of the blankets. He asked me if he could have some blankets, and I said 'No'. He asked me again, Carrie-can I have some blankets. Again, I said 'No'.
He said I didn't mumble, half asleep. Nope, this was a well spoken No both times.

Again, I can't verify, but it sounds like something I would do.
